What’s with www.go2url.com web addresses?

This question falls into the Getting Started (beginner) and  intermediate subject category.  First, I am going to assume that you are just starting out and you have decided to start your Internet business with a blog.  Why would I assume this?  Because it is by far the easiest way to get going on the net.  You do not have to hire anyone and you could get started right now!  I will do a short Camtasia video to show you just how easy it is to get started.  It is embarrassing that some people will charge $$ to do this for you.  You will get it here for free.  O.K.  You have a blog.  You do not know if anyone is reading.  I will show you how you can tell later, but at the beginning, you do not know how to check on this.

So, what can you do to see if anyone out there in Internet land gives a rat’s butt about what you are writing about?  I will show you a trick on how to see if anyone is reading and it will not cost you anything.  How’s that for awesome?  You will need to do some checking on whether or not people are reading and one of the tricks I use is at http://www.go2url.com/.  Suppose I want to see if anyone is going over the the web site for Wink 2.0.  I go to that web site and find the download page and copy that URL into the box at http://www.go2url.com/ to get a unique and short version of the web site address.  Next I track in my web host control panel whether or not anyone if clicking on that unique link.

So http://www.go2url.com/  is a page that will convert a long web site address to something short and unique for tracking later on.  The short web site address that you get from http://www.go2url.com/ also fits into the column length of the blog without it going past the right hand margins so it makes it easier for people with different browsers to click on the link.  There you have it.

Thanks, Jim
